Temporary Music Teacher

£7,627 – £11,019 actual per annum
 
The Trust invites applications from well-qualified and experienced A level Music teachers to support the Head of Music on a temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a small department alongside the Head of Music and part-time Music Technology teacher. This is a temporary, part-time (0.2) position.  It is anticipated to run until Easter, in the first instance.
 
Salaries will be on the sixth form college teachers main scale between Point 2 and Point 9, currently £34,752 and £51,714, depending on experience, plus London Weighting £3,382 pro rata per annum. The actual part-time (0.2) salary would be between £7,627 and £11,019 inclusive per annum, depending on experience.

Essential requirements:
 
• Honours degree in music or similar.
• PGCE or equivalent post-16 teaching qualification.
• Recent successful experience of teaching A level music.
• Enthusiasm for music and the ability to convey that enthusiasm in A level teaching.
• Excellent classroom skills and the ability to employ a range of teaching strategies and resources which engage and support students in the promotion of high-quality learning.
• Contribute positively to the work of the department through collaborative planning, and by sharing teaching ideas and resources.
• Excellent communication and team working skills.
• Evaluative approach to own teaching and willingness to try new activities.
• Successful use of intervention strategies to improve levels of progress.
• Skilled in using assessment data and prior learning to inform planning.
• Good behaviour management skills.
• Good skills using relevant IT and an interest in IT as a tool in teaching and learning.
• Understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in practice.
• Commitment to safeguarding the interests and needs of young people.
 
Desirable requirements:
 
• Professional experience as performer, composer, musicologist, or any other relevant experience.
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Teams to set work and communicate with students and other staff.
• An interest in developing the resource base of the department and the application of new technologies in teaching.
