Head of Faculty – Maths & Computing

£53,362 – £67,289 inclusive per annum
 
The College invites applications from well-qualified and enthusiastic A level Maths teachers with relevant leadership experience. This is a full-time, permanent post. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional teacher to lead this popular and successful faculty.
 
Salaries will be on the sixth form college teachers’ salary scale between Point 5 and Point 9 which is currently £41,174 and £51,714 depending on experience, plus £3,382 London Weighting, per annum. In addition, a responsibility allowance for head of faculty duties is payable in the range of £8,806 (RA13) - £12,193 (RA18) per annum, depending on experience.
 
Closing date for applications is Monday 23 February at 9am. Interviews will be taking place on Monday 2 March 2026.

Essential requirements
 
As a Head of Faculty
• Current head of mathematics or post within the mathematics department
• Effective leadership skills
• Excellent communication and team working skills
• Track record of quality improvement in own department/subject.
• Able to inspire and motivate colleagues
• Successful experience of managing colleagues and the quality of their work
• Insightful and accurate lesson observer
• Able to offer constructive support and challenge to other staff, including HoDs
• Able to take feedback and reflect on it positively
• Able to analyse data succinctly and evaluate evidence relating to quality and standards
• Awareness of curriculum development issues
• Interested in strategic issues affecting the whole college and ideas for improving the work we do
• Enquiring mind, interested in teaching and learning issues
• Positive, solutions focused mindset and approach
 
As a teacher
• Honours degree in related subject
• PGCE or equivalent post-16 teaching qualification
• Recent successful experience of teaching A level
• Enthusiasm for own subject and the ability to convey this in A level teaching
• Excellent classroom skills and the ability to employ a range of teaching strategies which engage and support students in the promotion of high-quality learning
• Evaluative approach to own teaching and willingness to try new activities
• Skilled in using assessment data and prior learning to inform planning
• Good behaviour management skills
• Successful use of intervention strategies to improve levels of progress
• Good ICT skills including being able to use interactive whiteboards, graphing and spreadsheet software in a classroom setting
• Understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in practice
• Commitment to safeguarding the interests and needs of young people
