Computer Science Teacher

£40,100 – £55,096 inclusive per annum
 
The College invites applications from well-qualified and enthusiastic A level Computer Science teachers. This is a full-time, permanent post. This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent teacher to teach in this popular and successful department. ECTs are welcome to apply.
 
Salaries will be on the sixth form college teachers’ salary scale between Point 3 and Point 9 which is currently £36,718 and £51,714 depending on experience, plus £3,382 Outer London Weighting, per annum.

Requirements
 
1. Honours degree in relevant discipline.
2. PGCE or equivalent post-16 teaching qualification.
3. Recent successful experience of teaching A level Computer Science.
4. Enthusiasm for Computer Science and the ability to convey that enthusiasm in A level teaching.
5. Excellent classroom skills and the ability to employ a range of teaching strategies which engage and support students in the promotion of high-quality learning.
6. Contribute positively to the work of the department through collaborative planning, and by sharing teaching ideas and resources.
7. Excellent communication and team working skills.
8. An openness to feedback and self-reflection in wider professional duties.
9. Evaluative approach to own teaching and willingness to try new activities.
10. Ability to assess student progress effectively and provide clear and constructive feedback using assessment for learning to support good progression.
11. Skilled at using assessment data and prior learning to inform planning.
12. Good behaviour management skills.
13. Able to advise about, monitor and assess NEA work for this A level.
14. The interpersonal skills and enthusiasm required to undertake the duties of a personal tutor to post-16 age group.
15. Enthusiasm for contributing to super-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
16. Understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in practice.
17. Commitment to safeguarding the interests and needs of young people.

Desirable
 
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Teams to set work and communicate with students and other staff.
• An interest in developing the resource base of the department and the application of new technologies in teaching.
