Happy students (L-R) Shreya, Zach and Ruby
Woodhouse students are celebrating another remarkable set of A level results this year with 230 of them achieving at least three A* or A grades, and 62 achieving at least three A* grades. Fifteen students achieved 4 A* grades.
This year’s results are a further improvement on last year’s. With 82% of grades at A*-B and 52% at A*-A, we are anticipating a larger proportion than ever finding their ideal place at university. Around 35 students have secured their place at Oxford or Cambridge universities and a similar number will be going on to study medicine this autumn.
Principal Sugra Alibhai said: "Huge congratulations to our wonderful class of 2025! I am incredibly proud of their achievements. These extraordinary results are a testament to the hard work and commitment of all our students and staff over the last two years."
Ruby achieved A*A*A* in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and has a place at Cambridge to study Natural Science. “When I opened my results this morning I just fully cried with my mum for a while, and then felt so, so relieved - all that work was actually for something! The process of applying (to Cambridge) was very stressful. I don’t think I properly knew what I was getting myself into. I’m glad I did it, but I felt quite unsure about it all right up until now! My two years here have been great and I don’t think I would have been able to get into Cambridge without all the support from Woodhouse, they are so well organised. So thank you to all the Woodhouse staff!”
Zach has A*A*A*A* in Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Further maths and also has a place at Cambridge to study Natural Sciences. “I’m really chuffed and very happy. Natural sciences is a nice combination of my four subjects. I found the process (of getting to Cambridge) really smooth, there were people at every stage that were there for me, there was an abundance of support. I was never in any doubt of what I needed to do, it was really good. Woodhouse has been really warm and cosy, strangely - it’s such a big college and it really feels like a sort of university campus - you see new people every day as well as friends and there so much space and opportunity. It was nice being independent, this freedom of choice with no real restrictions.”
(L-R) Fergal, Lucas and Navid
Fergal has A*A*A* in Maths, Physics and Chemistry and is going to Manchester to study Physics and Astro physics. “I was not too surprised with my results - I’ve been working hard and kinda feel I deserve it. I didn’t let myself get stressed. I’m very pleased, this is as high as I can get and my family are all happy. I’m off to Manchester and definitely looking forward to it - it should be a fun ride. Woodhouse has been, overall, a fun experience, a lot going on but you learn a lot. And you change so much, you’re a different person by the time you leave. It’s a great, open, social environment, all sixth formers, what’s not to like?”
Navid has ABB in Maths, Computer science and Art and design and will be studying Architecture at Nottingham. “I got ABB but I still got in to my first choice uni that wanted AAA. I feel like I could have done a bit better, but I did my best and that’s all you can do. I wasn’t really shocked when I opened my results because I’d accidentally opened my UCAS first and already seen that my place was confirmed, and then my mum came down and she was really, really happy. Woodhouse has been great, I’ve made a lot of friends and it’s pushed me to do really well in my studies.”
Franklin
Franklin achieved A*A*A*A in Maths,Further maths, Physics and Computer science and will be off to Sheffield to study Aerospace engineering. “Everyone in my family was up at 7am with me this morning. I was very nervous opening my results after months of worrying, but I’m very happy. It’s a weight off my shoulders now and I can move on to preparing for university. I’ve enjoyed my two years at Woodhouse, the college is really nice. I didn’t realise before how much it would make me work more - just being around high calibre students. The work ethic and the environment here is just so much better than an average schoolI feel like I really focussed in, compared to my GCSEs, I did so much more work and I think it’s paid off. I’ll be celebrating this evening with my friends, I think there may be some student deals at Nando’s or somewhere…”
Selin achieved A*A*A* in Maths, Economics and Geography and will be studying Economics at UCL. “This was the best two years I’ve had in school ever… incredible… I wish we had an extra year! I opened my results by myself then screamed with joy - and then my parents came in and there was like an hour of phone calls. It was really exciting because I’m the first person in my family here to go to uni and it’s really exciting to go to a global top ten uni like UCL.”
Ella has A*A*A*A* in Maths, Further maths, Philosophy and Psychology and has a place at Bristol to study Maths and Philosophy. “Getting my results? Mostly relieved and just glad to know - I’ve had a sleepless night. My family are very happy.”
Anwar has A*A*A in History, Politics and Maths and is going to LSE to study Politics. “I was elated to get my results, I didn’t expect them. Some subjects I thought I hadn’t done so well in, but once I opened them I was happy, all the nervousness disappeared. I was awake the whole night, I think a lot of people were. I’m happy I was able to achieve this, especially after the difficult circumstances in which I had to sit the exams. I broke my clavicle playing football and was injured the whole time. Woodhouse has been really fun. Obviously there is always going to be the academic side - everyone here is smart - but for me, I made a lot of friends playing football and basketball. I really love how the college accommodated us with things like sports and also work experience. The opportunities I got here allowed me to access a school like LSE.”
Marco and Or
Marco achieved AAA in Maths Economics and Geography and is off to Leeds to study Economics and Finance. “I’m very happy but a little surprised - my family were very excited this morning. It’s been good fun at Woodhouse, I made lots of friends.”
Or has AAB in Psychology, Maths and Biology and also going to Leeds to study Biomedical sciences. “I’m very excited and and happy to see my results - it’s been a lot of stress. I’ve loved the independence at Woodhouse, I like that it motivates you quite a bit but obviously if you do need help then the teachers are there to help - its a good mix.”
